Why do metals not bond to other metals (excluding metallic bonds) but nonmetals do bond to each other?

My question is very specific. I know metals can bond to each other through metallic bonds. But why do they not bond to each other in any other type of bond?? And why do nonmetals bond with other nonmetals (covalent bond, I think)???
