Why do politicans who make ignorant statements/remarks like Dan Quayle, Sarah Palin, C.O'Donnell, Rand Paul,?

it infuriates me because when dems or libs lie they just shrug it off as "they misspoke" but if repubs say anything wrong it makes headline news.
