I efiled my taxes, but they were rejected bec. the SSA has wrong bday. Now they are late. What should I do?

I efiled my taxes, but they were rejected because the SSA has the year wrong in my birthday in their system. It is now past April 15th... What should I do to avoid trouble with the IRS? Should I mail in my return through the post office, and explain in a letter what happened?
