Am i over reacting? I am a bit sad.... Plz tell me your views on this....?

Well if you're in college it sounds to be like you're a big girl and could have spoken up yourself. however, I've been around the block and I know how women work (and yes you are over reacting). He should have at least said something in a respectful manner to show his woman that he cares (that's all you really wanted out of this anyway isn't it?). Other options if you both are too afraid to speak up next time...leave!
