Why do politicans who make ignorant statements/remarks like Dan Quayle, Sarah Palin, C.O'Donnell, Rand Paul,?

it infuriates me because when dems or libs lie they just shrug it off as "they misspoke" but if repubs say anything wrong it makes headline news.

I know that particular catch you are talking about, that catch was a blatant bounced catch, it bounced a foot in front of him... The Ponting dismissal is a different story, you can still see his hands on the ball with the fingers under it, yes it does look like the ball has hit the ground, but at what part do you say its dropped or caught??.. In his mind he caught it of which he appealed for it... Even frame by frame ceases to say it was dropped or caught.

Have you read any of the books authored by Richard Nixon?

I haven't read any of his writings. I have read some books about him though, I have "The Arrogance of Power: Inside the Secret World of Richard Nixon" by Anthony Summers, which is an anti-Nixon hate book basically, "Very Strange Bedfellows:The Short and Unhappy Marriage of Richard Nixon and Spiro Agnew" by Jules Witcover, and "Nixon and Rockefeller" by Stewart Alsop. I think he was a pretty bad president though. He nominated 2 unqualified people to the Supreme Court, he imposed wage and price controls which damaged our economy, he appeased the USSR and started detente and nuclear arms control deals that hurt the USA, and he prolonged the Vietnam war without doing anything to try to win it. He also did little to help the Jews who were persecuted by the Soviet government when people in the Senate such as Javits were trying to get him to stop detente and the free trade agreements and help the Soviet Jews. I don't think he was a very good president, although there have been plenty who were worse.

If this was to happen, bet money it would happen in China, where they could pull that off both economically and in terms of m forced labour. Not a big fan of m forced labour otherwise. It's hard to force without compelling pressing interest, and space stations and moonbases don't really make the cut. The last time Western democracies really engaged something with such universal force was WWII, likely.
